About Hearth & Home

Hearth & Home is an independent publication blog that captures the essence of what ‘home’ is all about. Home is more than a place, it’s a feeling. The Danish say it well with the word “hygge”, meaning “creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people.”

I created this blog to be an extension of the ‘homely’ aspect of my instagram account and to allow me to write longer posts on my thoughts, poetry and especially my recipes, as this has become popular.

About Caroline

I’m blessed to live in a 300 year old cottage in the beautiful town of Stamford in the UK, with my husband, two daughters and French Bulldog.

I love creating a home that is a sanctuary, a place to rest and be restored. I value home cooked meals from locally sourced ingredients and supporting the local businesses and market store holders in my community.

Here are a few more things about me and what Hearth & Home is all about:

  • Baking is like therapy and soothes my soul.
  • Filling my cottage with beautiful things, warm textures, fresh flowers, candles, music and good smells, all make it home to me.
  • There’s nothing like relaxing on a weekend by the fire, with family or friends, playing board games or enjoying a glass of wine.
  • I love words and expressing my thoughts through writing and poetry.
  • Just recently I’ve also acquired an allotment (which has been a dream of mine for a while) and now I’m learning how to keep plants alive and hopefully grow some fruit and veg! I’m currently a bit out of my depth, so if I get a courgette out of this experience I’ll be happy!
